War of the Workspace
War of the Workspace is an animated short, incorporating both motion capture and freeform hand animation. The story depicts a dynamic fight scene between two action figures. It takes place on a computer desk that is populated with a large amount of objects, some of which the characters interact with. For my motion capture actors I used two expertly trained fighters with multiple ‘Dan’ black belts in MMA. This short was created as my Final Year Project at University, a project that ran from October to March. The planning, environment creation and texturing (apart from a handful of models), motion capture directing/shooting, data clean up, animation, lighting, cinematography and post-production work was all done by myself.
The second video is a short "Making Of..." that shows some stages of work for several scenes, from motion capture shooting to final product.
This third video is another short compilation, but this time it just includes some motion capture videos, no other stages of work.
This product won the "Games Animation" award (right) at ExpoTees 2014. ExpoTees is an exhibition of final year student's work from Teesside University and was open to the general public and industry recruiters. Awards were given to various sections, and I wont the award for my discipline.
